How to measure your roof pitch?
Roof pitch is a measure of vertical rise to horizontal run expressed in inches per foot.
In our example roof with a 8” rise for every 12” run has an 8” per foot, or 8/12 pitch.
Rise of 8 feet and run of 12 feet. 8 divided by 12 is 0.667.
0.667 x 12 (inches per foot) = 8
Pitch 8/12.
